Professional Photoshoot with Peter Duthrie, 20th of March 2026
We are offering the chance to star in your own professional aerial photo shoot. A high end photographic portfolio is a must-have for aerialists looking to enter the arena of performing and also a wonderful keepsake for hobby aerialists. The Blue Moon Circus studio will be transformed to a photo studio with a floor to ceiling black back drop and a full professional lighting set up.
We are pleased to have Peter Duthrie on board for this photoshoot day. Peter is a member of the Royal Photographic Society, with a fellowship distinction and was trained by a London advertising and fashion photographer. His style of photography demonstrates the elegant, energetic movement and skill of performers through the use of light and timing to create dynamic images showing their skills to the best advantage.
There will be 6x 1 hour slots available for this event. You can choose anything from our kit - silks, rope, loop, trapeze, hoop, heart hoop, moon or strap loops. You can also bring along your own equipment to rig if you prefer. You will get 5 fully edited images from the shoot. The cost of a 1 hour slot for one person is £175. You can also share the slot with 1 person and get 5 edited images each for £250.
The shoots will take place at our private studio space at Stanley Deason Leisure Centre, Wilson Avenue, Brighton, BN2 5PB.

The backdrop is black so we advise that you wear bright/metallic costumes so that you really stand out.
Aerial photo shoots are physically very demanding and you will need to rest lots in between, so we highly recommend sharing with someone else who is using the same kit as you is a great way to save some money and make sure you get the most out of your shoot. It’s fine to change equipment over the course of the shoot, but bear in mind that no extra time will be allocated for equipment changes.
While our instructors will be present to help with getting the right angle and rigging changes, you will be self directing your shoot.Have a clear idea of the photos that you want before coming to your shoot. We recommend that you set some time aside during your practice and ask someone to take test images of you. Preferably in what you’ll be wearing for the shoot. Coming with a clear vision of the pose and angle that you want will help ensure that you get the most out of your shoot.
Static poses work best so try to bear this in mind when choosing what you’ll do in your shoot.
Stick to what you do best and poses that you can do comfortably. Sometimes it’s the simplest of things that produce the best images. You want to look and feel relaxed and confident in what you’re doing. Over-complicated or highly strenuous poses often don’t make good photos. Remember that in order to get the best image you may need to hold your chosen pose for 30 - 60 seconds, which can feel like an awfully long time depending on what you’re doing!
Terms and Conditions
We will provide crash mats and aerial equipment for the photo shoot. Should any of Blue Moon Circus’s equipment fail, we accept full liability for any damage or injury caused. Aside from this, you are responsible for your own safety during this photo shoot. We advise that you only perform tricks/poses that you are within your capabilities and you are comfortable with.
Should you bring your own equipment, you are liable for any injury or damages to yourself or any other parties present as a result of the failure of that equipment.
You will ensure that any equipment belonging to Blue Moon Circus is not damaged during your photo shoot. If any equipment is damaged as a result of improper use or your chosen costume/props, you will be liable for the cost of a brand new replacement.
It is your responsibility to begin and finish your photo shoot in your allocated time slot. If you are late, you will not be able to run over. If the photographer is unable to get enough images for your 5 edited images as a result of your being late, no compensation will be offered.
The sale of your time slot is final and cancellations will not be refunded. If for any reason you cannot make your photo shoot, you will be able to sell your slot to someone else. We will help where possible with putting it out to our student community and social media followers but the transfer of this slot will be your responsibility.
The fully edited images will belong to you and are not permitted to be sold or published without your consent but the photographer may use them in his portfolio, on his website and on social media. Any images that you do not select to be fully edited will not be used without your consent.
